Enabling Non-Blocking UNIX Random Generator for UNIX Clients

To comply with Federal Information Processing Standards, the default UNIX Random Number Generator must be seeded prior to starting Commvault services. On certain UNIX computers, this call can block for several minutes resulting in prolonged service startup.

Procedure

To override the use of the default UNIX Random Number Generator and enable the use of a non-blocking one, you can add an additional setting.

• To the client computer, add the nUseDevURandom additional setting as shown in the following table.
