Enabling Reply via Email for the UserInput Activity

To allow users to interact with a workflow by responding to an email, the properties for email approval must be configured. To configure the UserInput activity to allow email responses, see Available Built-In Activities: UserInput.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click Workflow and then click Email Approval.

    The Email Approval Properties dialog box is displayed.

  2. Select the Enable Email Approval check box.

  3. Enter the following fields:

    • Email Server

      The name of the email server, for example: smtp.companymailserver.com.

    • Mailbox

      The email address of the mailbox that should receive the reply emails sent by the users.

    • Password

      The password for the email account in the Mailbox box.

    • Folder

      The name of the email folder used to hold the reply emails sent by the users, for example, Inbox.

      Tip

      Create a new email folder specifically to hold the reply emails, and then create a rule in your email program to direct the reply emails to that folder. This is useful if you are reusing the mailbox of a valid user to receive emails instead of creating a new mailbox.

  4. Click OK.
