End-User ACLs for Browsing From the Commvault Command Line Interface (cvc)

To browse or search from the Commvault End-User Command Line Interface (cvc) as a non-root user, set the necessary ACLs for the child and the parent (and higher-level ancestors) directories. Then, enable backup of end-user ACLs, see Enabling End-User ACLs to Browse From the Commvault Command Line Interface (cvc) on Linux.

Execute permission for ancestors

No permission required

find

  • Execute permission for all ancestors of the starting path

  • Read and execute permission for the leaf directory and all sub-directories

    For example, /dir1/dir2/dir3.

    Directories dir1, dir2 must have at least the execute permission, and dir3 and the sub-directories must have the read and execute permission.

No permission required

restore

  • Execute permission for all ancestors of the starting path

  • Read and execute permission for the leaf folder and all sub-folders

    Example of directory restore: /dir1/dir2/dir3.

    Directories dir1, dir2 must have at least the execute permission, and dir3 and the sub-folders must have the read and execute permission.

    Example of file restore: /dir1/dir2/file1.

    The parent directory dir2 of the file file1 must have the read permission, and all ancestors must have the execute permission.
