The Index Server and the Index Server Cloud are used by several different Commvault products and features to enable various indexing, search, and analytics functions for your CommCell environment.
Index Server
The Index Server is a logical CommCell entity that you can configure to support indexing, search, and analytics functions for different Commvault products and features. When you configure an Index Server, you must add at least one access node to the Index Server to perform the related operations and store the data.

Index Server Cloud
The Index Server cloud provides indexing, content indexing, and search functionality to some Commvault products and features. The Index Server cloud is a deployment of the Index Server that provides fault tolerance and high availability of the Index Server data by distributing the data and search requests across multiple servers.
