Before you implement Hyper-V Performance Monitoring solution in your CommCell environment, review the following information to ensure that your deployment is successful.
Prerequisite Components
The following components must be deployed in your CommCell environment before you can implement Hyper-V Performance Monitoring solution.
Web Console
To access Hyper-V Performance Monitoring report, you must have Web Console deployed in your CommCell environment. Web Console is a web-based application that allows end-users to manage their data and other features that are configured by their administrator.
For more information about the Web Console, see Web Console Overview.
Index Store and Index Server
To collect data and information from your data sources, Hyper-V Performance Monitoring solution uses a package called Index Store and a client computer group CommCell entity called Index Servers. The Index Store is the software that crawls, indexes, and stores the data for Hyper-V Performance Monitoring. The Index Server is the CommCell entity that you can create and configure to support Hyper-V Performance Monitoring. Index Store and Index Servers can also used by other Commvault products and features. You can configure multiple roles on a single Index Server to support different features in your CommCell environment.
To create an Index Server, you must install the Index Store package software on a supported client. Then you can create and configure an Index Server.
For more information about creating an Index Server, see Creating an Index Server.
Initial Configurations
After you have deployed the required components for Hyper-V Performance Monitoring solution, you must perform the following initial configurations:
Index Server
Before you can index and collect data from your data sources with Hyper-V Performance Monitoring, you must configure an Index Server in your CommCell environment for Hyper-V Performance Monitoring.
For more information, see Configuring the Index Server for Log Monitoring.
