Pre-processes and Post-processes - Getting Started

Updated

Pre-processes and post-processes can be configured for Data Protection, Data Recovery and Data Replication operations.

Use the following steps to set up pre-processes and post-processes around the backup phase.

Before You Begin

Create a batch file for Windows computers or a shell script for Unix computers. For example, you can create a batch file or shell script to create or change a file or folder, or log the level of a backup.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, go to the backup set that you want to configure a pre- or post-process for.

    Note

Not all subclients support pre- and post-processes. For more information, see Pre-processes and Post-processes - Support.

  2. In the backup set tab in the right pane, right-click the subclient, then click Properties.

The Subclient Properties dialog box appears.

  3. Click Advanced.

The Advanced Subclient Properties dialog box appears.

  4. On the Pre/Post Process tab, configure the pre-processes and post-processes:

    • Enter the path to the batch file in the PreBackup process box.

    • Enter the path to the batch file in the PostBackup process box.

  5. Click OK.

  6. In the backup set tab in the right pane, right-click the subclient and click Backup.

The Backup Options dialog box appears.

  7. Select Full as the backup type and Immediate to run the job immediately.

  8. Click OK.
