Removing MediaAgents From a Network Storage Pool

Use the following section to remove a MediaAgent from a Network Storage Pool.

About This Task

  • To remove a MediaAgent from a Storage Pool, delete the MediaAgent from all the other mount paths in the Storage Pool in which it is shared, using the steps described below.

  • A 'preferred' MediaAgent (where the mount path is a local drive on the MediaAgent) cannot be deleted from the Storage Pool, unless the mount path itself is deleted. For example, if you have MediaAgents A and B sharing their local volumes with MediaAgents C and D, only MediaAgents C and/or D can be removed from the Storage Pool.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Storage Resources | Storage Pools | <storage pool> | Storage | <Library>.

    Or,

From the CommCell Browser, expand Storage Resources | Libraries | <Library>.

  2. Right-click the mount path from which you want to remove a MediaAgent, and then click Properties.

  3. Click the Sharing tab.

  4. Select the mount path and click Delete.

The MediaAgent is removed from the list of Controllers.

  5. Click OK.

  6. For disk libraries, repeat steps 2 - 5 from all the other mount paths in the Storage Pool.

On cloud libraries, the MediaAgent is automatically removed from all the other mount paths in the Storage Pool, as long as the cloud library is configured using the same bucket in all the MediaAgents that share the Storage Pool. Repeat steps 2-5 only when the cloud library is configured using different buckets in each MediaAgent that share the Storage Pool.

Result

The MediaAgent is removed from the Storage Pool.
