Replication for VM-Centric Operations

You can configure replication for disaster recovery operations from the CommCell Console or from the Command Center.

Perform replication operations for VMs from streaming backups or from IntelliSnap backups.

From the Command Center, you can configure replication for individual VMs.

From the CommCell Console, you must configure live sync operations for a subclient.

Note

For Hyper-V, you can only perform replication operations from streaming backups and backup copies. You cannot perform replication operations from IntelliSnap backups.

Replication from IntelliSnap Backups

Virtualization clients that are configured for VM-centric operations support the following types of replication from IntelliSnap backups:

  • Inline replication for vendors that have inline replication support, as documented in Snapshot Support - Replication.

  • Offline replication for the NetApp vendor: NetApp Open Replication from Commvault 11.20 and NetApp OCUM-based replication from Commvault 11.22.

These features are also supported for VMware virtualization clients that use Indexing Version 1.

Note

  • To perform inline replication for VM-centric virtualization clients, the CommServe host, VSA proxy (access node), and MediaAgent that are used for the operations must be at 11.20 or a more recent feature release.

  • To perform OCUM-based replication for VM-centric virtualization clients, use a MediaAgent with <product> 11.22 or above.

  • To perform OCUM replication for Netapp 7-mode file servers, use a virtualization client that is configured to use Indexing Version 1.

  • OCUM replication for VM-centric virtualization clients is supported only for NetApp C-Mode file servers.
