Restore Options (Recover Database)

Use this tab to recover a DB2 database or DB2 DPF database partitions without selecting backup images.

Recover DB

Specifies that you can recover a DB2 database or DB2 DPF database partitions without selecting backup images from the CommCell Console. When you select this option, the Restore Arguments and Advanced tabs are disabled. This option is disabled whenever the options for a partial database restore and/or and out-of-place restore are selected.

Note

Beginning in Service Pack 12, this option is no longer the default option.

  • To the End of the Logs

  • Specifies whether to restore the DB2 database or DB2 DPF database partitions per all the logs associated with the database or partitions. To a Point in Time

Specifies whether to recover the DB2 database or DB2 DPF database partitions based on the state and contents of the database to a specific point in time. This is the default option when you choose to recover a DB2 database or DB2 DPF database partitions.

To change this time, click in the list as appropriate.

  • Overflow Directory

Displays the alternate log path to be searched for all of the archived logs during the database recovery if the system does not find all of the information that it needs in the history file path (discussed next). Use this option if log files were moved to a location other than that specified by the logpath database configuration parameter.

    Note

The OVERFLOW LOG PATH command parameter overwrites any value of the DB2 logpath database configuration parameter.

  • History File Path

Click this option and use Browse to select the history file that the system will check in order to select the backup image to restore. If the history file is not available, be sure to restore this file first before you recover the database. If the system does not find all the information in the history file that it needs to recover the database, the Overflow Directory (discussed above) is searched.

  • Use hardware revert capability if available

Specifies whether to revert the data to the time when the snapshot was created. Selecting this option brings back the entire LUN to the point when the snapshot was created, overwriting all the modifications to the data since the snapshot creation. This option is only available if the snapshot engine used for IntelliSnap backup supports the revert operation.

Advanced

Click to select additional restore options.

Save As Script

Click to open the Save As Script dialog box, which allows you to save this operation and the selected options as a script file (in XML format). The script can later be run from the Command Line Interface using qoperation execute command.

When you save an operation as a script, each option in the dialog box has a corresponding XML element in the script file. When you run the script, you can modify the value in any of these XML elements.

For more information on backups performed from the command line, see Command Line Interface for DB2 Agent.
