You can restore virtual machines (VMs) or guest files and folders in place or to a new destination. Restores are supported for both Windows and Linux clients.
If you restore a VM to a different Red Hat data center, you must provide user credentials for the destination data center.
To provide UNIX file system support, you can convert a Linux MediaAgent to a File Recovery Enabler for Linux.
Restore Types
When restoring Red Hat virtual machine data, you can select one of the following restore types:

Full Virtual Machine
This restore type is selected by default. Use this restore type in the following scenarios:

When the original virtual machine is unusable.

To restore an entire virtual machine to a specific point in time.

To restore a virtual machine to a different cluster or data center.

Guest Files or Folders
Use this restore type to restore files or folders from a virtual machine. Use this restore type in the following scenarios:

You cannot open the original file or folder.

To restore a file or a folder from a specific point in time.
Files and folders can be restored to the source VM, to a physical client, or to a VM with an appropriate agent installed.
The following guest VM file systems are supported:

Using a File Recovery Enabler for Linux: ext3, ext4, XFS, Btrfs, JFS

Using Windows 2008 R2 or 2012 R2: NTFS, FAT, FAT32
