In-place and out-of-place restores are supported from SMTape backups as described. But these restores have the following limitations:
-
Restore to a file system agent client (file system restore) is not supported.
-
Only full volume destructive restores are supported. No data on the destination volume will be preserved.
-
For NetApp 7-Mode file servers, the destination volume must be put in a restricted state prior to executing the restore.
-
For NetApp C-Mode file servers, the destination volume must be of type DP (data-protection) and must be in a restricted state.
-
After restoring data from an SMTape backup, the destination volume will not be rewritable. To make the destination volume rewritable, you must end the SnapMirror relationship on the destination volume by running the command for Cluster-Mode file servers and for 7-Mode file servers. See NetApp documentation for more information.
