Setting the Number of Streams for an Auxiliary Copy

Updated

If sufficient storage resources are not available, or you do not want to use all of the available resources, then you can select the number of device streams to copy simultaneously during an auxiliary copy operation.

By default, all the data streams on the primary copy are simultaneously copied to a secondary copy. For example, if there are four data streams on the primary copy, then the auxiliary copy operation uses four device streams on the secondary copy as well.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, go to Policies > Storage Policies > storage_policy.

  2. Right-click the storage policy, point to All Tasks, and then click Run Auxiliary Copy.

The Auxiliary Copy Job Options dialog box appears.

  3. On the General tab, select the Number of Streams button, and then specify the number of device streams in the box.

  4. If enough storage resources are available to copy all the data streams simultaneously, then select the Allow Maximum button.

  5. On the Job Initiation tab, click the Schedule button to schedule the auxiliary copy job.

For more information about scheduling an auxiliary copy operation, see Creating Auxiliary Copy Schedules Using Patterns.

  6. To run an auxiliary copy job immediately, click OK.
