Snapshot Configuration of the Huawei Storage Array

The Snap Configuration tab contains properties that affect the behavior of the storage array in your environment.

Tip: If you don't select the Auto Update Array Host Aliases check box, then you must manually enter any aliases for the array in the Array Host Aliases list. If you specify a list of aliases in the Array Host Aliases property to manually control the names for the array, then clear the Auto Update Array Host Aliases check box. Aliases are important for recognizing an array during snapshot backup jobs. An array can have multiple hostnames, IP addresses, or user configured names, which might be accessible by the client that initiates the snapshot creation.

Property	Description
Target Storage Pool for clones	The name of the storage pool to create clones.
Use only above pool for clones	Select this option to use the storage pool that you specify in Target storage pool for clones. The default value is disabled.
Enable Parallel Snap operations	Select this option to enable clone operations to occur simultaneously, reducing the time to clone multiple devices.
Use Incremental Clone	Select this option to enable incremental cloning . Logical unit numbers (LUNs) that belong to aged copies are not physically deleted, and only the data blocks that have changed are synchronized. Clear this option to enable full clone operation. For full clones, new LUNs are created for each clone operation and all data blocks are synchronized. The incremental clone can have a maximum of 8 copies, including retained copies (that is, copies that are marked for deletion) and active backup copies. Full clones can have an unlimited number of copies.
Provisioning method for Clones	The provisioning method for clones: 0: The same provisioning method as the source type 1: Thin provisioning 2: Thick provisioning
Initial allocation (%) for initial Thin Provisioning	The percentage of the size of the source LUN that you can use to create a new thin provision LUN for the clone operation.
Number of clone to be retained for Incremental Clone	The number of LUNs that are retained on a delete request (during data aging). The number of LUNs that you specify is retained. The retained LUNs are used for the next incremental clone, following the FIFO (first in, first out) method for incremental clone jobs. With the FIFO method, the first LUN that is deleted is the first LUN that is used. Because most models can have a maximum of 8 LUNs as slaves for clone copies, set the Commvault-job retention accordingly, to avoid the job failure. Note: The Commvault software uses this property only if you select Use Incremental Clone.
Use iSCSI if available	Select this option to prefer the iSCSI initiator port over the Fibre Channel (FC) initiator port, if both types of initiator ports are detected. Clear this option to use the FC initiator port as the default initiator port.
Initiator port for mapping	Specifies either FC or iSCSI as the initiator port for all mappings. If you don't enter a value, then the existing initiator port is used. If you enter a value, then the value that you enter supersedes Use iSCSI if available.
Mapping View for Mapping	A precreated mapping view. If you don't enter a value, then Commvault automatically creates the mapping for mounting operations. The mapping view that Commvault creates is deleted during unmount operations. Note: This property is not applicable for Huawei Dorado V6 or later.
Restore/Clone sync rate	The speed for clone operations and restore operations. For a faster operation, enter a higher value. 1: Low speed 2: Medium speed 3: High speed 4: Highest speed
Restore/Clone job timeout seconds	The timeout (in seconds) to return, if the job is not progressing. The default value is 43200 (12 hours).
Mount Retry Interval (in seconds)	The time interval (in seconds) after which the next mount operation is attempted. The default value is 300 (5 minutes).
CLI timeout seconds	The SSH2 request timeout (in seconds). The default value is 900 seconds (15 minutes). Huawei communicates with the array through the SSH2 protocol.
Failover Controller IP address	An alternative controller IP address, in case the primary controller is unavailable when Huawei attempts to connect to the IP controller.
Auto Update Array Host Aliases	If you select this option, then aliases can be added by the snapshot engine during a backup job, or while adding the array. By default, this property is selected.
Array Host Aliases	The list of aliases that can be accessed by the array. If you manually enter aliases by creating this list, then clear the Auto Update Array Host Aliases check box. The list is useful when array aliases cannot be detected automatically, or when duplicate assets might be detected between arrays that are shared by the same Array Controller.
