A hyperconverged infrastructure is a fully software-defined IT infrastructure that virtualizes all elements of conventional hardware-defined systems.
At a minimum, an HCI includes the following:
-
virtualized computing (a hypervisor)
-
a virtualized SAN (software-defined storage area network)
-
virtualized networking (software-defined networking)
To set up a hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) for a Hedvig environment, use the ovftool_hedvig
tool and the govc
utility to perform an open virtualization format (OVF) deployment.
