Add an SAP for Oracle database instance.
Before You Begin
You need the following information:
The Oracle application installation path
The credentials that you use to access the Oracle client
Procedure
From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.
The Instances page appears.
In the upper-right area of the page, click Add instance.
The Add instance dialog box appears.
Click SAP for Oracle.
The Add SAP for Oracle instance dialog box appears.
From the Server name list, select the SAP for Oracle database server that contains the instance.
In the Oracle SID box, enter a name for the instance.
From the Plan list, select the server plan to use for the instance.
In the Oracle home box, enter the Oracle application install path.
Note: For a RAC configuration, verify this value with the customer or the administrator.
You can use the following commands to obtain the Oracle home path.
To use the Oracle connect string, in the Connect String boxes, enter the database user name, password, and the service name. For example, "sys/pwd12@orcl4".
If you have a SAP Secure Store environment, move the Use SAP secure store toggle key to the right.
In the SAPDATA home box, enter the SAP on Oracle $SAPDATA_HOME environment path.
This is the path that contains the SAP on Oracle data and log files.
Note: For a RAC configuration, verify this value with the customer or the administrator.
If you specify this value, then an online_cons command line backup job that uses a rman or util backup device is split into a data command line job and a log command line job.
The SAP server environment variables contain this information.
You can use the following commands to obtain the SAP data path.
In the SAPEXE path box, enter the path to the SAP EXE path.
This is the path that contains the executable files.
You can use the following commands to obtain the SAP EXE path.
On Windows servers, to modify the operating system user credentials, under Advanced, complete the following steps:
To modify the operating system user name, in the OS user name box, enter the user name.
The user must have permissions to run the brbackup, brarchive, and brrestore commands.
To modify the operating system user password, in the OS user password box, enter the password.
Click Add.
