Backing Up Elasticsearch Indexes Using Workflows

The Elasticsearch Backup workflow performs a backup of Elasticsearch indices, and stores the backup data in a repository on the Hybrid File Store.

The Elasticsearch Backup workflow creates a snapshot of the selected indices in the Elasticsearch cluster. You can take snapshots of the entire cluster, or of specific data streams, or of indices in the cluster. You must register a snapshot repository before you create snapshots.

Before You Begin

Download the workflow from the Commvault Store.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, go to Workflows.

    The Workflows window appears.

  2. Right-click Elasticsearch Backup, and then go to All Tasks > Execute.

    The Elasticsearch Backup Options dialog box appears.

  3. From the Run workflow on list, select the engine to use to execute the workflow.

  4. Enter values for the workflow inputs:

    Workflow input

    Description

    IP

    The IP address of the source Elasticsearch cluster.

    Port

    The port number of the source Elasticsearch cluster.

    Elasticsearch Username

    The user name to authenticate to the Elasticsearch cluster.

    Elasticsearch Password

    The password to authenticate to the Elasticsearch cluster.

    Indices to Backup

    The Elasticsearch indices to back up.

    Repository

    The Hybrid File Store repository on which the backed up Elasticsearch will be stored.

    Backup Name Prefix

    The prefix that must be added to the backup file.

    Retain Original Index

    Select to retain the original index name.

  5. On the Job Initiation tab, specify whether you want to run the job immediately or to schedule it.

  6. Click OK.
