VMware Cloud Director users can log on to the Web Console or to the Command Center using VMware Cloud Director authentication APIs. When you enable this option, users can use the Web Console or the Command Center to view VMware Cloud Director and non-VMware Cloud Director virtual machines that are assigned to them.
Before You Begin
- The vCloud user must belong to an organization that is defined in VMware Cloud Director.
Procedure

If you created a virtualization client for VMware Cloud Director before Service Pack 17, create a user group for VMware Cloud Director users. (For virtualization clients that were created in SP17 or more recent service packs, the user group is created automatically.)
On the General tab of the User Group Properties dialog box, select the Use VMware Cloud Director Authentication option and provide URLs for authentication and validation.
Use the following format for the authentication and validation URLs:

Authentication URL: https://vcloud_director_hostname/api/sessions

Validation URL: https://vcloud_director_hostname/api/session
Where vcloud_director_hostname is the same value that was entered for the VMware Cloud Director Host name in the Virtual Server Instance Properties dialog box for the virtualization client.

Configure the Auto Detect VM Owner option on subclients that include VMware Cloud Director virtual machines.
This option assigns VM owners automatically based on vCenter settings.

Run a backup job for subclients that include VMware Cloud Director virtual machines.
During the backup, VMware Cloud Director users are automatically added as VM owners and added to the client computer group for VMware Cloud Director users.
Each user can only be associated with a single VMware Cloud Director user group.
Result
After VMware Cloud Director authentication is enabled, users can log on to Web Console or to the Command Center and access backups for virtual machines that they own.
Users can log on using VMware Cloud Director credentials in the following format:
username@organization_name
