Performing Out-of-Place Restores to Microsoft OneDrive Using the Windows File System Agent

You can use the Windows File System Agent to restore protected data from Windows or Mac computers to Microsoft OneDrive.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, go to Client Computers > client > File System > backup set.

  2. In the right pane, right-click a subclient, and then click Browse and Restore.

    The Browse and Restore Options dialog box appears.

  3. Click View Content.

  4. Select the data that you want to restore, and then click Recover All Selected.

  5. On the Restore Options - General tab, in the Destination Client list, select the Microsoft OneDrive client that you configured.

    You can browse the destination OneDrive client to select a specific OneDrive user account to which the data must be restored. Alternately, you can specify the UPN of the OneDrive user in the destination path.

    Notes

    • Irrespective of the restore options you choose, any existing data on the destination client is overwritten during the restore operation.

    • Data that is backed up from clients that run the current Commvault version cannot be restored to clients that run older versions.

  6. On the Restore Option Job Initiation tab, specify how you want to initiate the restore jobs.

  7. Optional: To further customize the restore operation, click Advanced.

    To determine which combination of options is required to meet your needs, refer to Restore Options.

  8. Optional: To save the current backup options as a script file, click Save as Script.

  9. Click OK.
