Registering the Application for Microsoft OneDrive for Business

To migrate the files from your OneDrive business account to Edge Drive, you must register the application for Microsoft OneDrive for Business.

Procedure

  1. Access the Azure portal using the OneDrive account that you want to migrate.

    The Microsoft Azure dashboard page appears.

  2. On the left navigation pane, click Azure Active Directory.

  3. On the preview screen, click App registrations.

  4. Click Add to create a new application.

    If you want to use an existing application for the migration, skip this procedure. Click the application display name and note down the Application ID and the Home Page URL for the application. Also, verify that you have the secret key for the application.

  5. On the Create preview window, in the Name box, enter a name for your application.

  6. In the Application Type box, select Web app / API.

  7. In the Sign-On URL box, enter any valid URL for your application, and then click Create. For example, http:\\onedrivemigration.

  8. Click the application display name, and in the Settings > Keys preview screen, enter the description and an expiry date for the new key, and then click Save.

    Important: Note down the value for the newly generated key and save it on a Notepad or Word application for future use. You will use this value as the Application Secret value during migration.

  9. In the Settings > Required Permissions preview screen, click Add.

  10. In the Add API access >Select an API preview screen, click Office 365 SharePoint Online API, and then click Select.

  11. Click the Select permissions preview screen, and under Delegated Permissions, select the Read User Profiles and Read all users basic profiles check boxes, and then click Save.

    Similarly, add the following APIs with the appropriate permissions:

    API Name

    Required Delegated Permissions

    Windows Azure Active Directory

    • Sign in and read user profile

    • Read all users basic profiles

    • Access the directory as the signed in user

    Office 365 Exchange Online (Microsoft.Exchange)

    • Read user profiles

    • Read all users basic profiles

    Microsoft Graph

    All delegated permissions

  12. Note down the following values for the new application:

    • Application ID

    • Key value

    • Sign-on or Home Page URL
