Removing the Commvault Plug-In for VMware vSphere Web Client (HTML5 Version)

You can remove the Commvault plug-in for vSphere Client (HTML5 version).

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Command Center.

  2. From the navigation pane, go to Manage > System, and then click the Plugins tile.

  3. Click the Vsphere tab.

    The Manage vsphere plugin page appears.

  4. To verify whether the plug-in is registered, provide the following information:

    • Plugin action: Select Find.

    • Hypervisor: Select the hypervisor for the vCenter server.

    • Username: Enter administrator@vsphere.local as the user name, and then provide the password.

    • vCenter version: Select 6.5 or later.

    When you click Submit, the page verifies that the plug-in is installed and displays a message indicating whether the plug-in is installed.

  5. If the plug-in is registered, enter the following information:

    • Plugin action: Select Unregister.

    • Hypervisor: Enter the hostname for the vCenter server.

    • Username: Enter administrator@vsphere.local as the user name, and then provide the password.

    • vCenter version: Select 6.5 or later.

  6. Click Submit.

  7. On the vCenter server, go to the following location and delete the vSphere plug-in folder, where plug_in_folder_name is the name of the plug-in (for example, com.commvault.commandcenter-1.0.0).

    • Windows folder:

      vcenter_server_install_path\cfg\vsphere-ui\vc-packages\vsphere-client-serenity\plug_in_folder_name

    • Linux default folder:

      /etc/vmware/vsphere-ui/vc-packages/vsphere-client-serenity/plug_in_folder_name

      On the vCenter Server Appliance, you can use the following command to delete the folder:

      rm -rf com.commvault.commandcenter-1.0.0/

      Go to the cmCatalog folder:

      cd /etc/vmware/vsphere-ui/cmCatalog

      Remove the Commvault plug-in cache folder:

      rm -rf com.vmware.cis.com.commvault.commandcenter.zip

      Restart the vSphere HTML5 user interface:

      service-control --restart vsphere-ui
  8. Restart vCenter services:

    • For vSphere 6.5:

      1. Log on to the vSphere Client with a vCenter single sign-on administrator account.

      2. From the menu, go to Administration > Deployment > System Configuration.

      3. Click Nodes, and then select the node for the VMware virtualization client.

      4. On the Related Objects tab, right-click the VMware vSphere Client service and select Restart.

    • For vSphere 6.7:

      1. Log on to the VMware Appliance Management portal at https://hostname:5480/login using administrator@vsphere.local credentials, where hostname is the hostname of the vCenter server.

      2. Go to Services, select the VMware vSphere Client service, and then restart the service.

  9. Verify that the plug-in is removed:

    1. Login to vCenter using administrator@vsphere.local credentials.

    2. From the menu, go to Administration.

    3. Go to Solutions > Client Plug-ins.

    4. Verify that there is no longer a row that has Commvault as the Vendor value.
