SAP Archive Link clients with V11 SP7 or later service packs use the Commvault ObjectStore as the storage repository to store and manage the backup data. Agents prior to V11 SP7 use a combination of the UNIX file system backups with the index maintained in a PostgreSQL database.
You can upgrade your clients from previous versions to V11 SP8 or later service packs.
Note: Upgrades from V11 SP6 and earlier clients to V11 SP7 is not supported.
Review the following considerations when you upgrade the SAP Archive Link clients from previous versions:
Applying the Current Service Pack on V11 SP7 or Later Clients
To apply the latest service pack on clients with V11 SP7 or later service packs, you do not need any additional considerations, because the SAP Archive Link agent on these version clients use the ObjectStore as the storage repository.
Applying the Current Service Pack on V11 SP6 and Older Clients
To apply the current service pack on V11 SP6 or older clients, you will first migrate the contents from the existing PostgreSQL database to the ObjectStore repository, and then update your Agent to use the new ObjectStore repository.
Before you upgrade to the new storage repository, complete the following requirements:
-
Note the user name and password for the ObjectStore account, and the host name of the Web Server.
-
Verify that you have V11 SP8 or later service pack installed on the Web Server computer.
-
Install the appropriate version of the PostgreSQL ODBC driver on the Web Server computer, using the following steps:
On 64-Bit Windows computer:
-
Go to www.postgresql.org/ftp/odbc/versions/msi and then download the psqlodbc_09_05_0400-x64.zip file.
-
Unzip the psqlodbc_09_05_0400-x64.zip file and execute the psqlodbc_x64.msi script.
-
The script installs the PostgreSQL Unicode(x64) driver.
-
Start the “ODBC Data Sources (64-Bit)” application and do the following:
-
Add a System DSN for the PostgreSQL Unicode(x64) driver.
-
To test the System DSN that you just created, click Configure, and provide the details that will be used in the <PostGreSQLParms> node of the configuration XML file for migration.
-
On 32-Bit Windows computer:
-
Go to www.postgresql.org/ftp/odbc/versions/msi and then download the psqlodbc_09_05_0400-x86.zip file.
-
Unzip the psqlodbc_09_05_0400-x86.zip file and execute the psqlodbc_x86.msi script.
-
The script installs the PostgreSQL Unicode(x86) driver.
-
Start the “ODBC Data Sources (32-Bit)” application and do the following:
-
Add a System DSN for the PostgreSQL Unicode(x86) driver.
-
To test the System DSN that you just created, click Configure, and provide the details that will be used in the <PostGreSQLParms> node of the configuration XML file for migration.
