VMW0086: User account does not have permissions to access a VM (VMware Plug-in)

Symptom

You have used the CommVault Backups tab from the vSphere client to log in to a virtual machine (VM1), and entered the user name (user1) and password for that virtual machine. If you log in to another virtual machine (VM2), you may get an error.

Cause

The user account (user1) that you are using to log in to the virtual machine(VM1) is not included in the Client Owners list.

Resolution

1. Close and reopen the vSphere client.

2. Click the virtual machine you want to access from the list of virtual machines in the right pane.

3. Log in to the virtual machine(VM2) using the username and password for a user account that is included in the Client Owners list.
