Protecting MongoDB Atlas with Commvault

You can use the Commvault software to back up and restore MongoDB Atlas clusters.

Note: Commvault takes native MongoDB snapshots of MongoDB Atlas. You cannot create a backup copy.

When You Can Perform Backups

  • On a schedule: The server plan that you assign manages scheduled backups

  • On demand: You can perform on-demand backups at any time

Restores

Restores You Can Perform

  • Cluster to cluster

Backups You Can use for Restores

  • The most recent backup: For example, restore the most recent backup to its original location.

  • A snapshot from a specific date: For example, restore data to a snapshot before it became unusable.

Destinations You Can Restore To

  • Restore a cluster to the instance that it was backed up from (in place)

  • Restore a cluster to a different MongoDB Atlas database (out of place)
