Adding an Azure Stack HCI Hypervisor

Add an Azure Stack HCI hypervisor to support data protection operations for all virtual machines that are hosted or managed by the hypervisor.

Before You Begin

• The hypervisor can be a Azure Stack HCI cluster, a Azure Stack HCI server in a cluster, or a standalone Azure Stack HCI server.

• Identify the access nodes that you want to install the VSA on to create proxies for backups and restores.

• Verify that the access nodes can communicate with the CommServe computer. If the access nodes reside behind a firewall, register the access nodes to the CommServe computer by installing the VSA package with the required firewall settings.

• Be prepared to enter credentials for the Azure Stack HCI server or cluster. The user account must belong to the Hyper-V administrators group. For an Azure Stack HCI cluster, the user account must have full cluster permissions (Read and Full Control).

Procedure

1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.

   The Virtual machines page appears.

2. On the Hypervisors tab, in the upper-right corner of the page, click Add hypervisor.

   The Add hypervisor dialog box appears.

3. For Select vendor, select Microsoft Hyper-V.

   Note

   Azure Stack HCI is a hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) cluster solution built on Hyper-V. At this time, to add an Azure Stack HCI hypervisor to the Command Center, you must select Hyper-V as the vendor.

4. For Hostname/IP address, type the fully qualified domain name or IP address for the hypervisor.

5. For Hypervisor name, type a descriptive name for the hypervisor.

6. To provide access to the hypervisor, select one of the following:

   • Enter credentials: For Username and Password, type the user credentials to provide administrative access to the hypervisor.

   • Use saved credentials: For Credentials, select a credential from the list of those available.

     The credentials listed are applicable to this hypervisor.

     Note

     To create a new credential (with Windows account type), to the right of Credentials, click Create new. Enter the name of the new credential and the user name and password to provide administrative access to the hypervisor. For more information, see Credential Manager.

7. Click Discover nodes.

   Nodes will contain a list of discovered nodes.

8. Select the nodes that you want to install the VSA on to create proxies for backups and restores.

9. Click Save.
