Associating a VM with a Server Backup Plan

Updated

You can associate discovered VMs (protected or unprotected) with a server backup plan to quickly start backing up the VMs. Instead of navigating to a VM group, hypervisor, or other entity to configure a server backup plan, you can simply select a server backup plan for individual VMs. This ability is especially useful for managed service providers (MSPs).

After you delete a VM from a hypervisor, you cannot create a new server backup plan association or change the existing server backup plan association for the deleted VM.

Permission Requirements

  • To associate a VM with a server backup plan, you must have the Agent Management permission on the VM.

  • To modify a server backup plan association, you must have the Use Plan permission.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.

    The Virtual machines page appears.

  2. In the row for the VM, click the actions button, and then click Select Plan.

    The Select plan window appears.

  3. Select the server backup plan to associate with the VM.

  4. Click Save.
