Configuring Links to the End-User Installation Package

By default, when you access the form to add a laptop in the Command Center, you must click a link to access the installation package, which directs you to the Download Center configured for your Command Center (see Using the Download Center). You can configure the link to go directly to specific packages or to go to another Download Center or another website.

Linking Directly to Packages

You can configure direct links to each version of the laptop installation package. For example, you can configure one link for the Windows operating system and another link for the Mac operating system. The laptop installation packages are stored on your Web Server or on a different website.

On the Add laptop page in the Command Center, the first link is based on the end user's operating system. You can configure this operating system-based link by using the PackagePathX and PackageUrlX additional settings.

Procedure

  1. To the CommServe computer, add the additional setting for the installation packages as shown in the following table.

For instructions on adding the additional setting from the CommCell Console, see Adding or Modifying Additional Settings from the CommCell Console.

  2. On the Command Center computer, restart the Tomcat services.

For instructions on restarting the Tomcat service, see Restarting a Service.

Linking to a Download Center or a Website

You can configure a link to a website where you have hosted the laptop installation packages. For example, you can configure a link to another Download Center or to your company website.

In the Command Center, end users click Add laptop to access the installation package. On the Add laptop page, under Download and Install Package, there are two links. The first link is based on the end user's operating system. The second link is for all other platforms. You can configure both links by using the additional settings below.
