You can configure replication from one AWS region (source) to a different AWS region (destination).
Procedure
-
Configure a cloud storage location in the target AWS region.
-
Create a server backup plan that creates a secondary copy of backup data and writes it to the cloud storage location in the target AWS region.
When you configure the plan to create a secondary copy, Commvault automatically creates an Aux Copy schedule that runs every 30 minutes to copy data from the primary backup to the secondary copy.
-
Create a VM group that identifies the source instances to replicate, and assign the server backup plan to the VM group.
-
Create a recovery target that identifies the Amazon hypervisor for the destination region.
-
Configure a replication group that identifies the source VMs. For the replication group, under Target Options>Advanced Options, use Select copy to identify the secondary copy that is defined in the server backup plan as the source for replication operations.
-
Make sure that a MediaAgent is deployed as an AWS instance in the target AWS region.
You can install the MediaAgent package on an access node in the destination region and specify that access node for the replication group.
