Creating a Company (Fully Managed Deployments)

For each tenant within the shared Commvault platform, define a company and identify an administrator for the company.

Before You Begin

  • Define the service plans that are available to tenants.

  • You can create a customized email template with welcome information and branding that is specific to each company. For more information, see Adding an Email Template.

Procedure

Perform the following steps from the Command Center:

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Companies.

  2. In the upper-right area of the page, click Add company.

  3. Enter the following information:

    • Company name: Enter the complete name of the company.

    • Email: Enter the email address for the tenant administrator.

    • Contact name: Enter the name of the tenant administrator.

    • Plans: Select all service plans that the tenant can use.

    • Company alias: Enter a short alias for the tenant.

    • Associated SMTP (Optional): Enter the email domain for the tenant.

    • Send welcome email: If you enable this option, Commvault sends a welcome email and one-time password setup link to the tenant administrator.

      If you plan to configure Single Sign On (SSO) authentication for your tenants, users will use a previously supplied password, and you can disable this option.

    • Template (Optional): Select a custom email template for the company from the list.

    • Enable custom domain: To specify a custom domain, select this option and then enter the domain name in the Primary domain name box.

    • Auto discover applications: Ensure this option is disabled (the default).

      If Auto discover applications is enabled, Commvault runs a scan on all tenant systems every twenty-four (24) hours. If a supported application is identified, Commvault installs an application agent on the server where the application is running. In a multi-tenant environment, enable this feature only for unmanaged environments where the tenant will manage their own data protection infrastructure, including installing and managing application agents.

  4. Click Save.

For tenants who own and manage their own infrastructure, generate authorization codes (also called "authcodes") that tenants can use when they install Commvault software packages on servers. This feature is not needed for tenant companies if the service provider owns and manages all of the infrastructure for the tenant.
