Managing Qumulo File Storage Subclients for NFS

Subclients contain information about what data is backed up. You can create a user-defined subclient to manage and back up specific shares and share contents.

If the content of subclients overlap, then the backup of each export is done individually.

The default subclient does not back up the content that is specified in the other subclients within the same backup set.

You can use wildcards to define the subclient content, exclusions, and exceptions. For information about wildcards, see Wildcards for UNIX File System Subclients.

Important

  • A subclient cannot contain a mix of content formats. To start using the auto-mount format, create a new subclient.

    • Auto-mount format: The content path begins with the file server interface. For example: file_server_interface:/NFS_export_path.

    • Mount point format: The content path includes the mount point. For example: /mount/nfs.

  • Data that is backed up with a subclient that uses the auto-mount format must be restored with an out-of-place restore operation. In-place restore operations are not supported.

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > File servers.

    The File servers page appears.

  2. Click the file server.

    • Backup plan: Select the backup plan to use for the subclient, and then specify which content you want to back up.

  6. Select the NFS export that you want to back up.

For more information about customizing the backup content for file servers, see Customizing the Backup Content for a Server.
