You can change the instances that you want to back up in an Amazon RDS instance group. You can also add a rule to discover the instances based on an instance name or a tag name associated with the instance. All the instances that match the rule are added to the instance group automatically.
Procedure

From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.
The Instances page appears.

On the Instances tab, from the View list beside Instances, select Cloud DB.
The Instances page for cloud databases appears.

Click the instance.
The instance page appears.

In the Instance group section, click the instance group that you want to modify.
The instance group page appears.

In the Content section, click Manage.
The Amazon RDS content page appears.

To discover instances based on a rule, click Add instance rule.
The Add instance rule dialog box appears. Select one of the following options for defining a rule for instance discovery:

To use a rule based on instance name, complete the following steps:

From the Select rule for list, select Instance.

From the Which matches with list, select the rule that you want to apply.
For example, to discover instances that match a specific name, select Equals.

In the Name box, type the keyword on which you want to match the instance name.

Click OK.

To view the list of instances that match the instance rule criteria you selected, click Preview.

To use a rule based on a tag name, complete the following steps:

From the Select rule for list, select Tag.

In the Tag name box, type the tag name on which you want to discover the instances.

From the Which matches with list, select the rule that you want to apply. For example, to discover instances that match a specific tag value, select Equals.

In the Tag value box, type the tag value on which you want to match the tag name for the instances.

Click OK.

To view the list of instances that match the instance rule criteria you selected, click Preview.
