Restores for SAP for Oracle

You can restore full databases or partial databases to the current location (in place) or to a different location (out of place, database copy).

When you choose the option to recover from the latest backup time with a secondary copy, the Commvault software only considers the time from the latest job available on the secondary copy, even when the primary copy or other copies have a more recent backup job.

Streaming Restores

You can perform a full instance restore for in-place and database copy for streaming backups.

IntelliSnap Restores

Multitenant Database Restores

  • You can perform only a Full instance restore for in-place and database copy of multitenant databases (container databases and pluggable databases). You cannot perform a restore for partial or individual pluggable databases.

  • Restore operation overwrites the destination instance.

For example , for a container database (CDB) instance, if you have PD1 on the source host and PD1 and PD2 on the destination host, then it is recommended to move out PD2 before starting the restore operation to avoid overwriting the instance on the destination host.
