Using Storage Policies in the Same Region for Backups of SQL Always On Availability Groups

You can back up SQL Always On availability groups with storage policies that are in the same regions as the availability groups. By default, backups use the storage policy of the subclient.

Procedure

1. For each region, create a dedicated client computer group.

2. Add the availability group replicas to the groups in their region.

3. To the client computer group, add the EnableRegionBasedBackups additional setting as shown in the following table.

5. On the Storage device tab for each dedicated client computer group, assign a storage policy that is for the same region.
