Best Practices for the Pure Storage FlashArray Array

Updated

Review the following best practices before using Pure Storage FlashArray array.

General

  • If you rename a source volume, manually delete the snapshots on that volume.

  • If the host is part of a host group, then the maximum number of private connections to the host is 9.

  • Add the proxy nodes as a host entry on the FlashArray with FC/iSCSI connectivity. Do not add the proxy nodes to the host group in the Pure Storage FlashArray array for Linux/ESX proxies.

During the mount operation, adding the proxy nodes as hosts with FC/iSCSI connectivity enables the LUNs to be mapped at the host level instead of the host group level, thereby preventing the LUNs from exposing to other hosts in the host group.

In such configurations, to avoid back copy operation failures, do not select the Connect to Host Group option in the Snap Configuration settings.
