Configuring Access to the MediaAgent for Cassandra Restores

If a firewall is placed between the Cassandra cluster and the Linux MediaAgent that is used for the recovery, you must configure third-party ports to open connections to the MediaAgent.

Procedure

1. Create a client computer group that includes all the client nodes of the cluster.

2. Configure you client computer group to receive restricted connections from the MediaAgent used for the stage-free-recovery.

   1. On the CommCell browser, expand Client Computer Group.

   2. Right-click the Client Computer Group for the Cassandra cluster, and then click Properties.

   3. In the Client Computer Group properties dialog box, click Network.

   4. On the Network Route Configuration tab, select the Network Route Configuration check box, and then click Advanced.

   5. On the Incoming Connections tab, click Add.

   6. In the From box, select the Linux MediaAgent that you want to use for the stage-free recovery.

   7. In the State box, select RESTRICTED, and then click OK.

3. Configure Third-Party Connections between the Cassandra cluster and the MediaAgent.

   For each client computer on the Cassandra cluster, you must run the ConfigureThirdPartyConnections workflow. For instructions, see Configuring Third-Party Connections Between Client Computers.

   When you run the workflow, you must provide the following details:

   1. Source client: The client node that is part of the cluster.

   2. Source port: Any local port in the client computer. Use the same port on all the client nodes in the cluster.

   3. Destination client: The Linux MediaAgent that acts as the network proxy for the restore.

   4. Destination port: 2049

4. To the coordinator node, add the nCassandra3dfsTunnelingPort additional setting as shown in the following table.
