Configuring Auxiliary Copy for HPE StoreOnce Catalyst Library

Updated

To perform Auxiliary Copy operations on HPE Catalyst library which uses different MediaAgents in the primary copy and secondary copy, the MediaAgent associated with the secondary copy must have access to the library configured in the primary copy.

For example:

  • Primary copy is configured with MA1 and Lib 1

  • Secondary copy is configured with MA2 and Lib 2

In the above example, MA2 should be shared with Lib 1 using the Mount Path Properties dialog box associated with Lib1.

Note

The source and destination MediaAgents must have the same protocol configured for data transfer. For example, you can use either IP or FC protocol.

Before You Begin

Setup the following before configuring the Auxiliary Copy operations for the HPE Catalyst library.

  1. Configure the HPE Catalyst library as described in Configuring a HPE Store as a HPE Catalyst Library.

  2. Create a Storage Policy using the newly created HPE Catalyst Storage library. For more information on creating storage policies, see Storage Policy - Getting Started.

    • While creating the Storage Policy, in the Do you want to use Storage Pool? page, click Add, and then click Disk to create a storage pool using the HPE Catalyst Storage library.

    • While creating the storage pool, in the Advance settings for the primary copy page, do not enable Software Encryption.

  3. Create a secondary copy using the Disk storage pool that was created while creating the Storage Policy. For more information about creating a copy, see Creating a Synchronous Copy Using a Storage Pool.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Policies > Storage Policies.

  2. Click the appropriate storage policy and note down the following from the right pane:

    • Default Library associated with the primary copy.

    • MediaAgent associated with the secondary copy.

  3. Navigate to Storage Resources > Libraries > <Library associated with the primary copy>.

  4. From the right pane, right-click the mount path that you want to share, and click Share Mount Path.

  5. Select the MediaAgent associated with the secondary copy and click OK.

The new MediaAgent appears under Controllers.

  6. Click OK.

The mount path is now shared with the selected MediaAgent.

Note

If the source copy is on a disk or cloud library and encryption or compression is enabled on the source copy, make sure to disable the encryption or compression on the secondary copy to StoreOnce.
