From the Commvault VTL 2.0 Web Management Interface, create a storage pool for iSeries to set up the physical storage for virtual tape data.

Procedure

From the navigation pane, click Storage Pools.
The Configured Pools page appears.
A default pool should be automatically created and displayed under the Configured Pools list. This pool exclusively holds the deduplication tables for the other pools in the VTL.

If the default storage pool is not created already:

click Add Pool.

In the Pool Name box, enter Default for the storage pool name.

Select the Enable Dedupe Metadata and Enable Deduplication check boxes.

Click Submit.

To add a new storage pool for the backup data, click Add Pool.
The Add Storage Pool dialog box appears.

In the Pool Name box, enter the name for the pool.
If necessary, configure additional options as described in Add Storage Pool.
Note
Deduplication is enabled automatically for this pool.

Select iSeries Backup if you have an IBM iSeries host as the backup target.
This will ensure that the deduplication metadata required for IBM iSeries hosts is accurately generated.

Click Submit.
