Creating an Azure Virtualization Client

Applies to: Azure database for MySQL, Azure database for PostgreSQL

You can create an Azure virtualization client so that you can perform backup and restore operations on your Azure database instances.

Before You Begin

1. Obtain an Azure account.

2. Create an authorization policy. For more information, go to the Azure documentation site, Manage access to Azure resources using RBAC and the Azure portal.

3. Create an Azure database instance.

Procedure

1. In the CommCell Browser, right click Client Computers, and then click New Client.

   The Add New Client dialog box appears.

2. In the Virtualization section, click Microsoft Azure.

   The Create Microsoft Azure Client dialog appears.

3. In the Client Name box, type the Azure cloud client name.

4. In the Subscription ID box, type the subscription ID associated with your Azure account.

5. Select the Azure authentication to use for the client.

   For more information, see Setting Up Managed Identity Authentication for Azure Resource Manager.

   • To use an IAM VM role, from the Authentication Type list, select IAM VM role assignment.

   • To use an IAM AD application:

     1. From the Authentication Type list, select IAM AD application.

     2. From the Credential list, select the credential entity.

6. In the Storage Policy box, select a storage policy.

7. To add a proxy server, complete the following actions:

   1. Next to Access Nodes, click Add.

      The Select Clients/Client Groups dialog box appears.

   2. Under Exclude, select the proxy server that resides in the Azure cloud, and then click Include.

   3. Click OK.

8. Click OK.
