You can delete a mount path with or without backup data.

If the mount path contains valid backup data that you want to retain, then you can retire the mount path and wait for the data to be pruned. After the backup data is pruned, you can delete the mount path.

Deleting a mount path deletes any consolidated mount paths on that device location. For more information on consolidated mount paths, see Moving a Mount Path.
