What is the name format for IntelliSnap jobs?

For SnapView Clones, the Commvault software uses the following convention for the IntelliSnap jobs:

SP_<CommCell_ID>_<Job_ID>_nnn.

For SnapView Snaps, the Commvault software uses the following convention for the IntelliSnap jobs:

SP_<CommCell_ID>_<Job_ID>_nnn_<Original_LUN_ID>

How does IntelliSnap work with SnapView Clone?

The Commvault software runs a synchronization process to clone target volumes.

A clone can be in one of the following states, according to the synchronization process phase:

  • Consistent: The synchronization is complete.

  • Fractured: The clone is consistent and available to be mounted on the host computer (client or proxy).

You must have enough space on the clone target RAID group or enough clone private LUNs for the IntelliSnap operations to run successfully.

How does IntelliSnap work with SnapView Snap?

Unlike SnapView Clones, SnapView Snaps do not need synchronization because the Copy-On-Write (COW) algorithm copies any blocks that have been modified.

When you take a snapshots, the Navisphere creates a session to track:

  • The snapshots where the session is running and on which the reserved or source volume.

  • The blocks that have been modified.
