Data Masking
You can mask sensitive data in log files and CommServe database. The CommServe log files, the CommServe database, the client computer log files, and the MediaAgent log files contain masked data. This means that the database dump contains only masked data.
Important
Data masking is supported only for the CommServe Database option. Even if you select other databases, the data is not masked.
On Windows, you can use the hosts file to scrub the log bundle in Send Log Files. To access the file, go to Windows_Installation_Dir\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. The hosts file contains both the IP address and the host name of the machine that you can use to scrub the log bundle in Send Log Files.
On Windows and Linux, to scrub more sensitive keywords, you can use the scrub.config file in the Software_Installation_Directory\Reports\sendlogfiles folder. You must specify each word on a new line.
Note
-
The number of lines in the scrub.config file must be less than 1000.
-
Avoid regular words, such as a, an , the, and in.
The Send Log Files Scrub Map Report maps the masked entity names to the names in the CommCell environment. To download and view this report, see Send Log Files Scrub Map.
