How do I determine if the backup media needs to be available to restore the archived data?
If data exists on the archive orstaging database, the data is restored from the archive or staging database to the production database.
The first time archived data is restored, the data comes from the backup media. Subsequent restores will move the data from the archive or staging database and if it does not exist on the database, the backup media is used.
You can perform a query without mounting the backup media on the archive data. If the query returns the data, there is no need to have access to the backup media.
