Restarting the Linux MediaAgent

To install updates or maintenance software, you must restart the Linux MediaAgent that hosts deduplication database (DDB).

Procedure

1. Log on to the computer as root and run the following command to stop services:

   commvault stop
       
   

2. When the services are stopped, type the following command to view all the deduplication processes that are still running.

   commvault list
       
   

   If the SIDB_Engine_<ID> process is found running, wait until the process is complete.

   Note: Depending on the size of the DDB, this process might take as long as 30 minutes to complete.

3. Repeat Step 2 to confirm that the processes are no longer running and then restart the computer.
