Restarting the Windows MediaAgent

To install updates or maintenance software, you must restart the Windows MediaAgent that hosts deduplication database (DDB).

You can restart the Windows MediaAgent manually.

Procedure

1. Log on to the MediaAgent computer.

2. From the Start menu, select All Programs > Commvault, and then click Process Manager.

3. In the Process Manager dialog box, right-click All Services and then click Stop to stop the MediaAgent services.

4. Open the Windows Task Manager.

5. In the Windows Task Manager dialog box, click the Processes tab, and locate the SIDB.exe or SIDB2.exe processes.

   If either of the processes is located, wait until the process is complete.

   Depending on the size of the DDB, the SIDB.exe process might take as long as 30 minutes to complete.

6. When the SIDB.exe process is complete and no longer displayed in the list of processes that currently running, restart the computer.
