Sending ESX Server Log Files

You can send ESX logs from the virtualization client for a VMware vCenter.

Before You Begin

To send ESX or vCenter logs, the user account must have Global > Diagnostics permissions for vSphere.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers.

  2. Right-click a virtualization client for a VMware vCenter, point to All Tasks, and then select Send Log Files.

    The Send Log Files dialog box appears.

  3. On the ESX Hosts tab, click Add.

    The Browse dialog box appears.

  4. From the list, select each ESX server that you want to include in the send logs operation.

  5. Click OK to close the Browse dialog box.

    Each server you selected appears in the list on the ESX Hosts tab.

  6. To include vCenter logs, select vCenter Logs.

  7. On the Output tab, select the Upload check box, and then click Automatic.

  8. Click OK.

Result

The log files are uploaded to the default location. You can track the progress of the job on the Job Controller tab in the CommCell Console.
