The tape storage provides a scalable and easy to configure storage solution. It allows multiple cross platformMediaAgents to access a shared storage pool. The storage capacity can be scaled-out on demand by adding more MediaAgents. The added MediaAgents are automatically shared using the network.
On configuring tape storage the following storage pools are created:

A Direct Backup Storage Pool that can be selected for running backups.

A Secondary Copy Storage Pool that can be selected for running auxiliary copy jobs.
You can use the following features with tape storage:

The Vault Tracker feature to manage media that are removed from a library and stored in offsite locations.

The Export Media feature, wherein media is physically removed from the tape storage based on list or criteria.
