Instead of the File discovery feature, you can use the File Storage Optimization feature.

To archive your data using the Command Center, you can use Archiving Files.

You can use the following methods to access your archived data that has been archived using the Archiver Solution.

Accessing Your Archived Data from 7-mode NetApp and Celerra File Servers

  1. Log on to a client computer that has UNC access to the stubs on the file server, or has a mapped network drive to the share.

    Warning: On 7-mode NetApp file servers, do not perform recall operations on the primary client and secondary client computers that you specified in the CommCell Console (File System Properties > Network Share Properties tab). In that situation, only the stub metadata is opened and the actual file is not recalled.

  2. Using Windows Explorer, go to the folder that contains the stubs.

  3. Double-click a stub. It may take a few minutes for the recovered file to appear after double-clicking its stub.

Accessing Your Archived Data from Network Shares

You can use one of the following methods to recover data that was archived using the Archiver Solution.

Method 1: Access your archived data using the File Share Archiver Client or Driver for File Archiver

  1. Log on to a client computer where File Share Archiver Client or the Driver for File Archiver is installed.

  2. Make sure that the client computer has UNC access to the stubs on the file server, or has a mapped network drive to the share.

  3. Using Windows Explorer, go to the folder that contains the stubs.

  4. Double-click a stub. It may take a few minutes for the recovered file to appear after double-clicking its stub.

    Note: You cannot recall a stub if the File Share Archiver Client or the Driver for File Archiver is installed on a computer pointing to a different CommServe computer than the one that was initially used to create the stubs.

Method 2: Access your archived data using the Explorer Plug-In

You can recall archived data through the Explorer Plug-In. This method has the advantage of performing the recall without engaging the driver.

  1. On your recall computer, enable the Explorer Plug-In.

  2. In Windows Explorer, enter the UNC path where your archived data resides.

  3. Locate the data to recall, then:

    1. Recall one file by right-clicking the file, then clicking Edge > Recall Data.

    2. Recall a folder and all the data it contains (but not its sub-folders) by right-clicking the folder, then clicking Edge > Recall Data.

    3. Recall a folder and all the data it contains, including all its sub-folders and their contents, by right-clicking the folder, then clicking Edge > Recall Data Recursively.
