Adding a NAS Client for Azure Files

You must add a NAS client before you back up your CIFS and NFS data.

Start the Configuration Wizard

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > File Servers.

    The file servers Overview page appears.

  2. On the File Servers tab, in the upper-right area of the page, click Add server.

    The Configure File Server page appears.

  3. Click NAS.

  4. Click Next.

    The General page of the Add NAS Server configuration wizard appears.

General

  1. In the Name box, enter a name for the file server.

  2. In the Host name box, enter the fully qualified host name of the file server.

  3. Click Next.

    The Plan page of the configuration wizard appears.

Plan

  1. From the Plan list, select the server plan to use for the file server.

  2. Click Next.

    The Backup Method page of the configuration wizard appears.

Under Choose backup method(s), specify how you want to back up the file server:

  1. To back up CIFS shares, move the CIFS toggle key to the right.

  2. To back up NFS exports, move the NFS toggle key to the right.

  3. Click Next.

    The Network Share Configuration page of the configuration wizard appears.

Array

If you want to use IntelliSnap to back up the file server or use SnapDiff / Changelist for streaming backups, add a storage array.

Steps to add an Array
  1. Next to Array, click Add.

    The Add array dialog box appears.

  2. From the Select vendor list, select the array vendor.

  3. In the Array name box, enter the storage array name.

  4. In the Control host box, type the control host IP.

  5. In the User name and Password boxes, type the credentials for the array.

  6. (Optional) From the Access nodes list, select an access node.

  7. To confirm that the system can connect to the array, click Preview.

  8. Click Save.

For NetApp C-mode, if you want to add the CIFS/NFS protocol for an existing de-configured NAS client that is created when C-mode array is added using array management, ensure that the default subclient content is updated with appropriate CIFS/NFS interface if management IP and CIFS/NFS interface IPs are different.

CIFS

  1. To specify the access nodes to use for the file server, from the Access Nodes list, select the access nodes.

    By default, the MediaAgents that are associated with the storage that is specified in the server plan are used as the access nodes.

  2. Next to CIFS credentials, click Edit, and then specify the credentials to use.

  3. To back up only some content, in Backup content, move the All CIFS shares toggle to the left, and then specify the content to back up.

    By default, all content is backed up.

    Note

    The CIFS credentials must be added to change the backup content.

NFS

  1. To specify the access nodes to use for the file server, from the Access Nodes list, select the access nodes.

    By default, the MediaAgents that are associated with the storage that is specified in the server plan are used as the access nodes.

  2. To back up only some content, in Backup content, move the All NFS exports toggle to the left, and then specify the content to back up.

    By default, all content is backed up.

  3. Click Next.

    The Migrate To This Server page of the configuration wizard appears.

Migrate To This Server

  1. Optional: To migrate data from the old server, move the Migrate data from old server toggle key to the right.

  2. Click Add.
