When you enable file indexing at the VM group level, the system pushes the packages to the default path of the MediaAgent that is specified in the associated backup plan or storage policy in order to establish a single index server deployment:

As part of a file indexing job, if the required Index Gateway package is not present on a VSA access node, then the system will install the package on the client, and then continue to process the job.
A file indexing job can be processed by multiple VSA access nodes.
