Configuring Network Options for a Server Group

You can configure network options for a server group.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Server groups.

    The Server groups page appears.

  2. Click on a server group name.

    The Server group page appears.

  3. On the Configuration tab, in the Network settings panel, click the edit button edit button solid blue pencil.

The Edit network settings window appears. Edit the settings as follows:

    1. Tunnel port. To override the default tunnel port of a server group, do the following:

      Note

The default tunnel port is the Commvault Communications (CVD) service port plus 3 (for example, 8403).

      1. Click the Override default tunnel port checkbox.

      2. Enter a tunnel port number.

    2. Additional port range. To increase data transfer speed, add an additional port range for the server group as follows:

      1. In the Additional open port range section, click Add.

The Add port dialog box appears.

      2. Specify the range of ports by entering values in the Start port and End port fields, and then click Add Port.

        Note

Ports must be within the range of 1024 to 65000. The ports you define cannot be used by other applications.

      3. To restrict Commvault services to only the configured open ports, click the Bind all services to open ports only checkbox.

      4. To add another port range, repeat steps i through iii, above.

    3. Keep alive interval. To avoid idle session timeouts on cloud-based clients, set the Keep-alive interval in seconds to 200 seconds or less (default is 180). This setting determines the interval to maintain the session if backup traffic has an extended pause.

    4. Force SSL encryption. To force all incoming tunnel connections for the server group to use the HTTPS protocol, click the Force SSL encryption in incoming tunnels checkbox. Communication between other CommCell components will be authenticated through Secure Socket Layer (SSL).

    5. Network Gateway. To configure the servers of the server group to act as a network gateway, click Enable network gateway.

    6. Click Save.

  4. Push the network configuration to all servers in the server group. For more information, see Pushing a Network Configuration.
