Getting Started with Google Filestore

Verify that the environment meets the system requirements, install the Linux File System Agent, prepare your first backup and restore, and then perform a test backup and restore.

Step 1: Obtain Your User Credentials to Access the Command Center

Obtain the following information from your backup administrator:

  • The Command Center URL

  • Your Command Center user credentials

If Command Center is not set up in your CommCell environment, contact your backup administrator to deploy Command Center. For more information, see Setting Up the Command Center.

Step 2: Install the Linux File System Agent

Install the Linux File System Agent on VM instance or on an on-premise Linux computer where the Google Filestore share can be mounted and accessed.

Step 3: Complete the File Server Application Setup Wizard

Configure the File Server application by completing the Setup Wizard for the Servers Application.

Step 4: Mount the Google Filestore Share

Mount the Google Filestore share on the Linux computer.

Step 5: Prepare for Your First Backup and Restore

To back up the Google Filestore share as an NFS export, Add a NAS file server.

Step 6: Create a Subclient for the Network Share

Create a User-Defined Subclient to specify the Google Filestore share content for backup.

Mount the Google Filestore share on the Linux computer. Automount feature is not supported.

Step 7: Run Your First Backup and Restore

  1. Perform a backup.

  2. Perform a restore.
